The EUROPE DIRECT Peloponnese & Thessaly, are hosting an online event titled: "Cancer and Mental Health: Behaviors- Implications- Support", which will take place on Thursday 8 June 2023 and time 18:30.
Cancer is the second cause of death in EU countries after cardiovascular diseases. Each year 2,6 millions of people are diagnosed with the disease, which causes death 1,2 million people. Since Europe accounts for a quarter of the of total cancer cases and less than 10 % of the global population, it is obvious that cancer is a huge threat to her our society. The overall economic impact of cancer in Europe amounts to 100 billions of euros per year.
The cancer, except the physical health, it also significantly affects the mental, causing a wave of emotions which the patient has not experienced before and finds it difficult to deal with them, driving, possibly, in their growth. The same can happen to his relatives.
The topics to be discussed will focus on presentation of the European plan to fight cancer, at importance of prevention and early diagnosis, to access to anti-cancer treatment and in the psychological support of cancer patients and their relatives.
