Young people - European Union - European elections

In the context of the "Schools - Ambassadors of the Hellenic Parliament 2023-24" program, in which the 6th Lyceum of Larissa participates this year, was held on Wednesday 13 Of March 2024 in the school auditorium an event on the theme "Youth - European Union - European Elections" with the support of Europe Direct Thessaly. The event was attended and spoken by Mr. I. Papadimopoulos, lawyer and professor at the University of Thessaly and B. Chatzikamagiannis, head of Europe Direct Thessaly Region. The first referred to the institutional framework of the European Union and the role of the institutions that make it up. Also, extended to the manner of conducting the European Elections and emphasized the importance of citizens' participation in them. The second speaker presented the function and role of local European Information Centers (Europe Direct) and he also pointed out the need for citizens to go to the ballot box. At the event, the students of the program presented the results of a small survey carried out at the school, which tried to detect what their classmates who will vote for the first time in the European elections in June know about the European Union. 2024 and what is their attitude towards them. The event was interspersed with songs by the children of the program and closed with messages addressed to their classmates about what Europe means to them and why they themselves will go to the polls.
