Intense was the interest in timely open Seminar-Roundtable European political debate, for the course and the Future of Europe, held Saturday 4 November 2017, in the Department of Economics Auditorium, University of Thessaly (former French Institute Volos), with Title: “The Future of Europe: A fair and Democratic Europe! Yes, but how;"Attended by side Europarliament Mr.. Notis Marias and Mr.. Nikos Chountis ,the Thessaly University Prof. Dr.. Christos Kollias, K. Theodore Metaxas and Mr.. Andreas Stergiou and the European Commission Representation in Greece ,the representative of the group “Europe”, K. Lefteris Antonopoulos.
It was an initiative of the European Information Center Europe Direct Thessaly and 2 / degree of Culture Agency and Network Sciences “Perrhaibia” , co-organized by the Region of Thessaly, Thessaly-Economics Department and the Regional Development Fund of Thessaly University , to investigate what may be the future of Europe and to develop policies for a more just and democratic Europe , that serves first’ all people and not numbers.
Greetings to this important event made by the Region of Thessaly and the IP Magnesia Sporades -Voreion the Thematic Antiperifereiarchis Mr.. George Kaltsogiannis ,while the head of the Europe Direct Thessaly Mr.. Vas. Chatzikamagiannis ,in his contribution analytically presented versatile work of the Center ,to inform citizens Thessalians on the major issues facing the EU and affecting Greece and its economy. stressed ,that these positive interventions will continue in the future, to create ,above’ all ,update EU Citizens .
THE independent MEP, K. Notis Marias, chairman of the party "Greece the other way" and recommendation title “GREECE-EUROPE:The Other Road” He told from the perspective of, that Europe's future will depend on the balance of forces. He expressed his opposition against the prospect of "neo-colonial policy in Europe" and stressed that "we want to have a Europe of equal states, a Europe in which the Member will not fall into lenders and borrowers ".
THE MEP. Nikos Chountis who served as foreign minister in charge, He referred to the recommendation of the "democracy in the European Union”.
THE professor. Christos Kollias, with a recommendation title : “From European Defense Community to the European Defense Union; The perspective of economic defense” analyzed the subject of Defense Policy at EU level. and stressed that:: "Today the European Union is facing the biggest crisis he has faced, identity crisis and challenge.
Assistant Professor Mr.. Theodore Metaxas with a recommendation title “Designing strategic development in the new global environment: On the global generalization local specificity”, Assistant Professor Andreas Stergiou a recommendation title : “The European Union energy policy and energy developments in the Eastern Mediterranean” He presented the major issue of energy self-sufficiency and autonomy of the EU. and Greece, highlighting the geostrategic position.
To Member of “Europe group” the European Commission Representation in Greece, Eleftherios Antonopoulos, PhD, with a recommendation title: “The cohesion policy after 2020: challenges and prospects based on the Commission's seventh report on Cohesion ", presented the policies to achieve cohesion among EU countries. the coming years and mitigate the disparities in EU countries, and which are taken into account in policy.
THE president of the "Network Perrhaibia" Mr.. Costas Skriapas noted that “It is needed more than ever as information and awareness about the progress and the future of Europe and the international role, may have.
During the discussion was detailed debate on the White Paper , which is basically requested the development of Europe's social dimension, the deepening of Economic and Monetary Union, harness globalization, the future of European defense and the future of EU finances. (EMU) .
In the second part of the event , followed Roundtable ,which was particularly interesting, It was open discussion ,until late in the afternoon and were given the opportunity not only to Carriers, but all participants in the work ,not only to deposit their concern for the life of Europe, and to submit questions to the speakers, who also replied in detail to each question.
