Green Deal of the Region of Thessaly

Multi-benefit emblematic projects for the environment, biodiversity and climate such as the restoration of Carla Lake

-Flood protection and irrigation projects that lead to proper management of the precious natural resource of water and protect infrastructure, people and property.

-Water works that ensure clean, qualitative, adequate drinking water.

-Projects of energy upgrading of public buildings, which have been selected in 200 best "green" projects of the Green Deal of the European Commission and the European program "Green Deal with Local Action and program of energy upgrading of houses for low-income households

-Solid waste management projects leading to a policy of almost zero generation of landfill waste from the 2025  until 2030 and make Thessaly one of the first Regions in the country to process and sort all of its generated waste, retrieving paper, plastic, metal, glass, compost and biogas energy.

-Dead animal collection and management program with environmental and public health benefits

-Municipal wastewater collection and treatment works –  Biological Cleaning- in all settlements with a population over 2.000 residents but also in ecologically sensitive and touristic areas with a smaller population

-Environmental mitigation projects, such as the ring roads of urban centres, roundabouts, the electrification of the "Thessaly railway", Sustainable Urban Renewals, the LED electric lighting in the entire regional road network which reduces by 79% energy consumption and 10.800 tons per year the carbon footprint

-Daily air quality measurements,   sea ​​water quality measurements and checks with certified laboratories for air quality.  

-Participation in European programs with a green environmental footprint and measurable results: the first electric car from the program EnerNETMob,  Electric Charging Stations in Karditsa, Larissa, Trikala and Volos,    "green" protocols in the management of Excavation and Demolition Waste from the program Condereff,   Album with recording and photographic recording of 91 wetlands of Thessaly from the program WetmainAreas, the first Underwater Museum in Greece that highlighted Alonissos to 8 world's best sustainable destinations, from the BlueMed program.
