"Immigrants and local communities : An alliance for the future of cities "

 

The manufacture 12 April 2019 successfully held the workshop Social Dialogue on the Future of Europe on: "Immigrants and local communities: An alliance for the future of cities ", organized by the "Perrevos' Network, Development Karditsa A.E.-O.T.A., the Thessaly Region and the Regional Development Fund of Thessaly , as part of the European Information Center actions – «Europe Direct» Thessaly, with the support of the European Parliament Office in Greece.

The workshop was coordinated by Mr.. Skriapas Kon / nos-President Network "Perrevos" and Mr.. Bellis Basil-CEO AN.KA. SA., while Mr. attended and greeted. Fotis Alexakis Karditsa Mayor and President of ANKA SA which was the host Institution, Reverend Father Basil Karastergios, Mr.. Regional Councilor Dimitrios Anagnostopoulos, President FTI Thessaly Mr.. George KOTSOU, Mrs. Panayota Vranje - SYRIZA N. Karditsa, Mrs. Chrisoula Katsavrias - Sioropoulou, SYRIZA N. Karditsa and the Director of the Europe Direct Thessaly Mr.. Chatzikamagiannis Basil. Also at the event was attended by representatives of agencies, elected county of Karditsa and officials of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Then made presentations on "Migration phenomenon", "Hospitality asylum seekers and refugees" in Karditsa, the "Estia program" and "international protection". Representatives of the Arabic-speaking and French-speaking Community residing in Karditsa expressed their gratitude towards the local authorities and citizens of Karditsa for hosting and presented the problems faced.

As part of the workshop on Migration and made the inauguration of the Intercultural Center for Immigrants "Crossroads" in Karditsa, the first in Greece, which aims to support the refugee and migrant communities and to bring them closer to the local Greek community . As part of the inauguration were awarded refugee children , and offered a light meal kitchen intercultural.
